Digital, Data and IT Strategy

In 2018, Achieving for Children began its digital journey. Our aim has been to support digital growth within the organisation by developing digital solutions which enable our staff to work smarter and more efficiently. And to provide better, more interactive services for our children, young people and their families.

We have made great strides in transforming our services digitally and the momentum continues to develop at pace. With limited public resources in local government, the case for digital change is even greater, and is attracting positive interest in the work we are undertaking.

Two of the greatest accomplishments in the last two years are having been awarded government funding to support other local authorities in their response to Covid-19 through digital transformation, and developing a culture of change and innovation within AfC.

For the next two years, the strategic objectives are to have a connected, accessible, agile and efficient environment for our workforce and children, young people and families. Our ambition is to strengthen our digital, data and IT capabilities to enable us to maintain the delivery of outstanding children’s services and connect with our communities more widely.

A key ambition is to provide easy access to services through digital means that is responsive, secure and resilient. This includes the exploration of innovative technology that is aligned to the nature of the services we provide.
