Workforce race equality standard

Achieving for Children, along with Richmond and Wandsworth Council Adults Department and Wandsworth Council Children’s Department, have been participants in the pilot of the Social Care Workforce Race Equality Standard. Eighteen local authorities took part in this initiative which has previously been adopted by the NHS to address disproportionate outcomes for Black Asian Minority Ethnic staff.

The aim of the WRES is to identify the key areas for social care, and create an action plan to address these. Nine areas were measured looking at career, training and treatment at work and the data has been analysed to identify where action is required.

Adults, Children’s and AfC have each written an action plan that addresses the specific areas requiring support and a timeline for action. These action plans include short term and long term actions. AfC’s action plan is now available to view online. WRES Action Plan and Report – May 2022

As we progress through this action plan we are engaging at all levels to ensure staff voice is included and involved. We look forward to sharing with you as we learn on the way.
