Stronger Women, Stronger World
Our Windsor and Maidenhead Intensive Family Support service and the Asian Women’s Stress Management Group celebrated women’s growth and resilience in the face of adversity on 20 April at Riverside Children Centre, with sponsorship from the Maidenhead Thames Rotary Club who kindly showed their support with a donation of £400.
During the event there were a number of opportunities to celebrate the achievements of local women who have overcome barriers in their lives to achieve positive outcomes. They shared the story of their journey to empower and inspire other women within the local community.
Here’s the storu of Farzana, mother of three: “I was suffering from postnatal depression, but through coming to The Family Links programme and Stress Management Group I gained mental confidence and belief in myself. I am working now and trying to be a positive influence at home and in society.”
The event was a huge success with 108 women attending to help celebrate the achievements of others and show their congratulations.
Feedback from evaluations of the event included:
“Listening to all these local women/heroines who have changed their lives by taking steps, encourages me to move forward.”
“Very inspiring and informative; have gained a lot of knowledge today.”
“I am so proud to be part of this event, such inspiring speeches, I am taking a bundle of confidence and feeling refreshed and proud to be a woman.”
