Richmond young people to benefit from new youth services partnership

Young people in Hampton are now able to benefit from the expertise and local connections of local youth charity, YMCA London South West, under a new partnership to manage the local youth centre.

The Hampton Youth Project, which has been in operation since 1990, offers a wide range of activities to local young people including a climbing wall, indoor archery and recording studio.

The new service, which is being commissioned by Achieving for Children, is part of a wider transformation of youth services across Richmond and Kingston. Young people will continue to work with their current youth workers under the YMCA service.

The move will ensure that young people can continue to access a strong universal youth service from a well-established organisation with local knowledge, while freeing up AfC’s youth service to prioritise targeted support for the most vulnerable and at risk young people.

Richard James, YMCA London South West Chief Executive said: “I’m excited about our new youth venture and how we can include it into our YMCA family, growing stronger in our local community in Hampton in collaboration with YMCA White House. It’s one of our core values to meet people at their point of need and to come to know life in all its fullness, and our expertise in youth work will mean we can achieve great things in Hampton for young people.”
