About Achieving for Children

Achieving for Children is an award-winning social enterprise company created by Kingston and Richmond Councils to deliver their children’s services. We have been up and running for three years and in that time we have established a reputation as one of the leading providers of children’s services in the country. A key driver for establishing the company was to secure the long-term sustainability of our services by expanding the business to admit new local authorities, developing our consultancy offer and services, and entering new children’s services markets. The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead will join the company during 2017.

Achieving for Children became a national Partner in Practice in December 2016, attracting funding from the government to develop innovative approaches to delivering services within the company and to increase the improvement support we are able to offer to other local authorities.

AfC Connect is Achieving for Children’s innovative solution to the social work recruitment challenge. This new business unit will be responsible for recruiting experienced social work managers and social workers and placing them in poorer performing local authorities as part of the company’s intervention and improvement work.

About this post

The Director of AfC Connect is a new role in Achieving for Children where you will be able to shape the way we deliver our improvement consultancy work. As Director you will establish the business unit, set its strategic direction and put in place the systems that will secure its future success and financial viability. You will work with the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive to recruit and place social work teams in local authorities, ensuring that they work alongside and support established teams to improve social work practice and drive improvement.

To be our Director, you will need to have proven experience of leading the recruitment of social care professionals. You will have excellent knowledge of the social care market and a solid understanding of the services that Achieving for Children provides to children and their families. You will have excellent commercial awareness and will be resourceful, creative and innovative in your approach to developing solutions for our customers. You will also be skilled in branding and marketing services and in building strong working relationships with customers.
